Mariama joins the SIT admissions team after having worked for the marketing and communications department for over two years. She earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Columbus State University in 2012 and is currently working toward her master’s degree in intercultural and international communication from American University, where she also serves as a research assistant. Her academic interests focus on global media, particularly global media across the African continent and diaspora.

Mariama has been working in the nonprofit space for over a decade, having taken on various roles including childcare, summer camp counselor, tutor, and executive assistant. Additionally, she is a returned Peace Corps literacy volunteer from Grenada. She is also a writer and editor and has written articles covering topics including mental health and self-development. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time in nature.
