Bruno Grazioli, PhD
Bruno Grazioli is the resident director of the Italian Studies Program for Dickinson College in Bologna, Italy. He has studied in Italy and the UK, where he has earned a bachelor of arts in English and French, an MA in pedagogy and promotion of Italian language and culture at the University Ca‘ Foscari of Venice, and an MA and PhD in Italian studies. He lived for over a decade in the United States, where he was faculty in Italian at a liberal arts college in the northeast and twice served as academic director for study abroad programs in Florence. At the Dickinson College Italian Studies Program in Bologna, Bruno has developed and taught a course on Italian activism, combining traditional instruction in class with volunteering and community engagement work in local organizations. He has conducted research and published on language immersion and civic engagement while studying abroad, on power and inclusivity among Bolognesi LGBTQIA activists, and on skill-building and cross-border cooperation in international projects.
