In her research paper, "The adherence to safe sleep recommendations by nurses in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) of public and private hospitals in Buenos Aires," Joelle addressed how safe-sleep practices can decrease the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other unexpected infant deaths. Joelle's advisor was Dr. Norma Rossatto, an expert on the topic who serves as chief of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit La Trinidad Hospital and associate editor of the Argentinian Pediatric Association Journal.
