Dr. Louis Berends has served as the university relations manager for the Midwest region at SIT Study Abroad since 2010; he is based in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to working at SIT, he directed study abroad programs at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Lou holds a PhD from Loyola University Chicago (LUC) in cultural and educational policy studies. He has studied at Brunel University (Uxbridge, U.K.), the University of Oxford (St. Catherine's College), and LUC's Rome Center in Italy. He has presented many academic papers in various settings including Columbia University’s Teachers College, Harvard's Graduate School of Education, and Stanford University’s School of Education.
