advantages of the International Education Low Residency degree.

International education professionals need to update their skills and knowledge regularly to keep up with shifting trends in international curricula, program design, and transnational regulations.
SIT’s low-residency MA in International Education offers working professionals a flexible and customized way to further their careers while maintaining their current jobs. The program combines online courses with limited face-to-face interactions. During the online portion, students can log in and study at any time.

The program provides a comprehensive background in the historical, theoretical, and social foundations of international education programs. Students are able to develop the professional competencies they identify as critical to their career.

Degree Sequence:

Year 1

Students spend 2 weeks on SIT’s campus in Vermont.
Students spend the remainder of the year completing coursework and participating in discussions online, while continuing their current professional work.

Year 2

Students spend 1-2 weeks on SIT’s campus in Vermont.
Students spend the remainder of the year completing coursework and participating in discussions online, while continuing their current professional work.
Students present a final capstone project on SIT’s campus in Vermont (one week).

While current experience in the field of international education is typically expected for the low-residency MA program, previous or anticipated experience may be considered.
