Master of Arts in Teaching

Offering both an academic year and two-summer formats for working professionals, with concentrations in English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), French, and Spanish. Public school certification available.

Master of Arts in Social Justice in Intercultural Relations

SIT's Social Justice in Intercultural Relations degree will prepare you for careers that involve issues of social justice and equity in multicultural contexts. You will develop the comprehensive intercultural skills and awareness that you need to work for greater social justice through professional roles as facilitators, advisors, trainers, educators, curriculum developers, organizational consultants, outreach workers, organizers, managers, program planners, and evaluators in a wide range of contexts.

SIT provides a comprehensive education in individual, community, and organizational transformation by asking you and your peers to examine your own cultures, political economies, and personal identities. Your learning will derive from faculty instruction as well as personal practice, analysis, and experience.

Peace Corps Master's International Program

Complete SIT's practicum requirement by serving overseas in a two-year Peace Corps assignment. This unique partnership is available to students earning an SIT master's degree in Teaching, Conflict Transformation, International Education, Social Justice in Intercultural Relations, Sustainable Development, Organizational Management, or the self-designed degree in Intercultural Service, Leadership, and Management.

SIT TESOL Certificate for English Language Teachers

Practical training in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Provides tools for teacher reflection and growth as well as daily teaching sessions. Offered at SIT and host sites.

ACCESS - Actively Connecting Content, English, Students and Standards

The ACCESS course provides graduate-level, practical professional development to build an awareness of the language needs of English language learners in mainstream classes and to facilitate language and content integration in all curricular areas. ACCESS will introduce pre K-12 content teachers to a conceptual framework and a series of instructional strategies to make their teaching more accessible to their students who are English language learners.

Through a Training-of-Trainers process, ACCESS qualifies ESL teachers to become licensed ACCESS trainers who can offer SIT ACCESS courses in their own school or district.

Training and Education Services

Training and Education Services at the SIT Graduate Institute offers consultation services and short-term training courses in teacher education and foreign/second language teaching.

Center for Intercultural Programs

Language classes, intensive summer courses, and customized tutorials for individuals, groups, international executives, teachers of foreign languages, and SIT Graduate Institute students.
